What sizes do skips come in?
Skips range from 3-35 cubic yards, giving you various options so you don’t have to pay over the odds. Skips can also save you money as you won’t have to take endless trips back and forth to the tip.
To make sure you don’t pay more than you need to, simply give us a call and let us know how much you intend to dispose of. We can then recommend the right size skip for your needs.
How long can I keep the skip for?
You can keep the skip normally for up to 3 days, if you require the skip for longer, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.
How much room do I need for a skip?
If you have room for a car in your driveway, you will have room for a 3, 6 & 8 yard skip.
How high can I fill the skip?
You will be able to fill the skip up to the fill level mark, but not above as we are not allowed to transport skips if they are filled above the skip level.
What can I put in a skip?
Wood, Rubble, Scrap Metal, Cardboard, Light Garden Waste, Furniture,
Paper, Plastic, Small Goods.
What NOT to put in a skip:
CAR BATTERIES, CAR TYRES, COMPUTER MONITORS, TV's, FLUORESCENT TUBES, FRIDGES/FREEZERS, GAS CYLINDERS/AEROSOLS, PAINT CANS, ASBESTOS MATERIALS
What happens to stuff I put in the skip?
Upon collection every skip is returned to our purpose built recycling centre. Each skip is visually checked on arrival and tipped according to the nature of the waste contents. The recycling process then starts. The waste is loaded into our trommel waste separator. This is a giant revolving drum similar to a sieve through which the dirt and earth drops. The remaining waste drops from the trommel onto a large conveyor belt, from which recyclable materials can be picked.
This process recovers approximately 80 – 85% of materials suitable for recycling, such as cardboard/paper/wood and plastics. The remaining 15 – 20% of dirty/contaminated waste is still unfortunately, forwarded to landfill but with improving techniques and new markets opening we hope to bring this rate down even lower.
